Afrika’s Struggle at a Special Event

Last night, I attended a special event recognizing the generosity and loyalty of Queens College major donors. President Frank H. Wu (and the Office of Institutional Advancement) hosted the event. In my case, I received an invitation as a serial donor, though it was very minor. It is always good to pay it forward, big or small.

The networking (a full room), the hors d’oeuvres (i.e., chicken meatball), and the drinks (i.e., sparkling water with lemon) were fabulous.

President Wu provided each donor in attendance with a ticket to see Michael Feinstein’s Tribute to Tony Bennett at the Colden Auditorium, Kupferberg Center for the Arts. The show was remarkable. Michael Feinstein and his Carnegie Hall band got a standing ovation and an encore.

I have to commend two of my seat neighbors (i.e., major donors) for keeping me entertained before the performance. One is a math professor emerita and the other a physicist. I am not mentioning their name since I didn’t ask for their permission. Nonetheless, they are interesting ladies with beautiful minds and beautiful spirits.
