Last Thursday evening, I joined The Most Honorable Juliet Holness – Member of Parliament and Wife of the Prime Minister – as she launched the Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation. The preceding charity’s motto is “Help us help our children” and Jamaica’s children indeed welcomes all the help that is available. The first lady and member of parliament intends to provide needed computers and nurture robotics interest in the primary schools.
By the way, Jamaican high school teams are highly competitive and have won major awards in international robotics competition. Jamaica College – my older brother’s, Mark A. Crawford, Esq., alma mater – is one of the leading high schools in international robotics competition.
For the reason of transparency, the prime minister and his wife were my schoolmates (a year apart) at St. Catherine High School.
Jamaica has produced great international political leaders (i.e., Marcus Mosiah Garvey), great musicians (i.e., Bob Marley) and great athletes (i.e., Usain Bolt). Next to the preceding three favorite sons of Jamaica, we intend to add another favorite son or daughter on the pedestal. A favorite son or daughter who will be a world-renowned game changer in the field of computer science. He or she will once more “put our beautiful Jamaica on the map” as Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley and Usain Bolt did in their respective fields.
Therefore, help us help our children by joining Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation to making Jamaica great as we cultivate Jamaican boys and girls in computer science, robotics and other endeavors.
And one more thing, my shameless plug, don’t forget to purchase Afrika’s Struggle: His Experiential Journey.

It is always a joy to see someone elevating the awareness of our children of Jamaica…
It is indeed an honour and a privilege to invest in our youths. I always maintain that when children have the right foundation, support and mentor, they are a force to reckon with. Continue to sow seeds in our children. As we build them up, they become better citizens. being responsible and accountable individuals. I congratulate you and your team for the great job and do wish that more people will catch the fire and invest in this incredible foundation…Respect….
